 History:
  Palais
de Chaillot
Current Information:
Earlier in the 19th century, after  the Convent of the Visitation had been demolished, the top of the 230-foot  hill had been leveled for the construction of a palace for the King of Rome. Many different projects were planned to be built on the hill, but were stopped by the fall of the Empire. The name Trocadéro was then given to the hill of Chaillot in 1827. The Palate of Daviou was founded during the World Fair, and had represented moresque art. It was then replaced by the Palais de Chaillot in 1937. Although his structure were kept, the minarets were cut down.
The Palais de Chaillot was built for the Universal Exhibition.  Although his structure were kept, the minarets were cut down.

The Palais is made of two separate pavilions, each of which sprouts a curved wing. The Musée de l'Homme (Museum of Man), the Musée de la Marine, and the Musée des Monuments Français (Museum of French Monuments) are located there.  Under the terrace which separates the two sections, are two theaters. The National Popular Theater (TNP) (1,500 to 3,000 seats), and a small hall that serves as the National Film Library (Cinémathèque Française). The statue-guarded terrace gives a splendid view across Paris and makes an enduring travel-poster setting for tourists to take photographs.  The hill descending to the river, has been made into a terraced park, the center of which is advanced with mighty fountains, cascades, and pools.
